I was bored at work last night and was flipping through channels when I ended up on something called the NASCAR Xfinity Series. It combined the NASCAR racecars and put them on road courses (it was Road America yesterday). I was instantly hooked. It was amazing seeing these NASCARs negotiating the tight turns and uphill section of the track. I had no idea they did this!

Xfinity Series, the second-level series, races at Road America, Watkins Glen, and Mid-Ohio, along with the ovals.
The Camping World Truck series, the third-level series, had their only road course race of the year today at Mosport

It’s just the new name of the old Nationwide feeder series, they run a few more road courses than the Sprint Cup does. Trucks were at Canadian Tire these weekend too, I think.

Don’t get your hopes up, it’s just not quite sprint cup series skilled drivers and they just happened to be on a road course this weekend. It’ll be an oval again next week.

Yeah, the Sprint Car series has had two on the schedule for a long while.
The finishes have been pretty good as well.

If there was a NASCAR series that actually ran only road courses, I’d be all over it. But nope, more turning left only for you.

Same here... I was all excited because it was on local TV and had decent coverage and I didn’t really recognize most of the drivers so I thought Id have something new to watch.

NASCAR Whelen Euro series. All road courses except for 2 ovals. NASCAR sanctioned. Cars look just like American stock cars. Camaros, Challengers, Mustangs, Chevy SS, Camry. 400hp spec motors, RWD. You can usually watch them on Fanschoice.tv. They run a limited race NASCAR schedule. But run 24 in total. Playoffs start in September.

They were. And a good race it was. Tagliani got hosed on the last lap. Busted transmission

NASCAR in general needs more road courses. It’s a lot of fun to watch those guys hustle 3500lb chunks of steel around places like Infineon and Road America. NASCAR at Laguna Seca would be about as entertaining a thing as there ever has been involving NASCAR.

It’s called IMSA, and they have cars that actually look like whats on the street. Look at the CTSCC races.
